Remarks on the relationship to the New Testament

A lot of complicated issues are involved, such as dating, authorship, the origins of the New Testament writings, and methodology.
It is disputed whether John makes use of other NT writings. There is, however, evidence in favour of the position that John did know some NT books, e.g., Matthew (cf. Rev 1:7 and Mt 24:30).
