<p>As usual for the Counterpoints series, the proponent of each view sets forth  his case in a rather lengthy essay. Responses from the two other contributors follow. The editor, Darrell L. Bock, has written a short preface and a summary essay (pp. 277-310).</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold;">The main contributors</span><br />The editor is professor of NT at Dallas Theological Seminary. <a href="http://www.swbts.edu/index.cfm?pageid=794&amp;enc=495E4B4A5433392C23442550415030415379">Craig A. Blaising </a>was Joseph Emerson Brown professor of Christian Theology at Southern Baptist Theological College in Louisville, Kentucky. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_Gentry">Kenneth L. Gentry</a> was dean of faculty and professor of systematic theology at Westminster Classical College in Elkton, Maryland. <a href="http://www.wscal.edu/faculty/bios/strimple.php">Robert B. Strimple</a> is professor emeritus of systematic theology at Westminister Seminary California.</p>

<p>Mealy&#8217;s study is the first monograph on Revelation 20 since Bietenhard&#8217;s from 1955. Mealy argues in favour of a premillennial position, even though he, at first, seems to present arguments that to me (and, indeed, him) rather supports an atemporal millennialism.</p>
<p>Mealy proposes several new readings and points to some very important prima facie arguments which have not been recognised before Mealy.</p>
<p>Mealy&#8217;s study was a very important inspiration for <a href="http://www.revelation-resources.com/2007/08/25/adamsen-de-tusinde-ar/">my article on &#8216;the thousand years</a>.&#8217;</p>

<p>This is one of the classic works defending amillennialism (realised amillennialism).</p>
<p>The book is divided in two parts. The first part deals with Inaugurated Eschatology, the second part with Future Eschatology.</p>
<p>Some 20 pages describe the major millennial views, while about 30 pages critiques the dispensational amillennialism. Hoekema devotes 16 pages to the millennium of Revelation 20.</p>
<p>The back matters include an appendix on &#8220;Recent Trends in Eschatology&#8221; (pp. 288-316; written about 1979), a 6 page bibliography, a very detailed index of Subjects as well as indices of Proper Names and Scripture references.
